ATHOL — The Athol High School Class of 2021 looks forward to starting up its redeemable bottle and can drive to raise money for the AHS Drug- and Alcohol-free After-Prom Party. The project had been on hold due to the coronavirus restrictions. So the class is looking to make up lost time every first Saturday of the month starting this Saturday.
Fundraising during COVID-19 is very difficult, Lonnie Bonenfant, parent representative for the Athol High School class of 2021, said. “We aren’t able to have large gatherings such as meat raffles or gift card bingo. Also, because of no school sports, we cannot set up tables at those games to sell raffle tickets or other items senior classes have done over the past several years.”
Residents are encouraged to bring their redeemable bottles and cans to the Kessler Investments parking lot, 2070 Main St., this Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. Please bring only Massachusetts-redeemable bottles and cans; no water, Gatorade-like or N.H. bottles and cans.
Eat at Wendy’s of Athol Thursday
“This senior class also was able to work with Wendy’s of Athol and every first Thursday of the month, a portion of the proceeds go to the class,” Bonenfant said. “You just have to mention the Senior class Fundraiser at the time you pay. Thank you for your support.”
