Istanbul Basaksehir vs Manchester United

The Champions League has been Manchester United’s relief from the reality of their Premier League struggles so far this season. Wins over PSG and Leipzig have been far and away their best performances of the season to date. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s job would be at serious threat if those matches hadn’t gone their way – the loss to Arsenal at the weekend cranks the pressure up further.

A long trip to face Istanbul Basaksehir isn’t the easiest tie in the competition, but Manchester United can head to Turkey feeling relatively comfortable. This is an opportunity to move on to nine points and put themselves in a great position to qualify.

The hosts are yet to pick up a point or score in the group stage, but they are on a three-match winning streak domestically and will be feeling positive. They were competitive against Leipzig and PSG, hovering around the 50% possession mark and getting off 23 shots across the two matches.

The draw at +370 is a tempting option. DraftKings’ odds heavily favor United to win this and likely win it comfortably. Perhaps they continue their Champions League form, but recent domestic performances should not be ignored. Istanbul Basaksehir to keep it close is the pick.

Pick: Istanbul Basaksehir +1 (+128)

Chelsea vs Rennes

It’s fair to call Chelsea’s season turbulent. Leaking goals early on, Frank Lampard has prioritized defensive solidity of late, and it’s worked. The Blues have five clean sheets from their last six matches – the arrival of Edouard Mendy has been huge for the west London club. Mendy faces his former team on Wednesday, a Rennes side who are on a poor run and have just one point from their first two group stage matches.

Chelsea played out a tedious 0-0 with Sevilla before dismantling Krasnodar. Lampard’s side gave Burnley a lesson on the weekend. Rotation is probable for Wednesday, but after some worrying results and performances, Chelsea appear to be heading in the right direction. They are heavy favorites to get the better of Rennes, who had to come from behind to beat Brest at the weekend, ending a four-match winless run.

Squad depth is more important than ever. Lampard can make changes and still be very confident of a victory. Rennes were outplayed by Sevilla – a similar outcome is likely on matchday 3.

Pick: Chelsea -1.5 (+100)

Leipzig vs PSG

Both of these teams have lost to Manchester United already. Both beat Istanbul Basaksehir. This is a massive match for Leipzig and PSG, an opportunity to take control of the group.

They are currently sitting on three points apiece, but with Leipzig in third due to an inferior goal difference. The 5-0 thrashing at Old Trafford will make bettors very wary of backing the Bundesliga side as they welcome PSG on Wednesday.

After what was no more than a blip earlier this season, PSG have returned to dominance in Ligue 1, registering a 3-0 win on the weekend. They weren’t made to work hard for the win, which is a bonus, but domestic success has not proven a good barometer of their Champions League performances. Leipzig, in contrast, suffered their first Bundesliga defeat of the season to Borussia Monchengladbach.

Leipzig collapsed in Manchester last week. The way they defended is a massive cause for concern against this PSG attack. Kylian Mbappe could rip them apart on Wednesday – the +420 on Mbappe to open the scoring is a good bet, but a PSG win is the pick.

Pick: PSG moneyline (+120)
