Betway Abernant Stakes Analysis

a winning debut. Gosden has also saddled three of the last six winners of this race. The well-bred Bright Light is another winner of his only race, and Godolphin has also targeted this race successfully in the past.Last year’s winner Keystroke and the third Brando (who won the race in 2017 and 2018) return to battle it once more. But you need to go back to 2005 to find the last 8-year-old to win. Brando’s trainer Kevin Ryan also saddles Emraaty Ana, who was good enough to win the Gimcrack as a 2-year-old, but the stable’s runners have generally looked in need of a run this week.
Mr Lupton is also probably past his best at the age of 7, while the 5-year-olds Green Power and Breathtaking Look need to find further improvement.

The 4-year-old Oxted is given a chance to take another step forward after being good enough to win the Portland Handicap off a big weight at the end of last season. His stable could be in better form, but they’ve haven’t run anything of his class so far.

Betway Paradise Stakes Analysis
15:00 at Newmarket Racecourse on 5th June
Sangarius is rated 3lb+ higher than all his rivals but it will be interesting to see if he can handle the drop back in trip after winning impressively over 10-furlongs at Royal Ascot last season. He’s also not run since then and he could be just blowing the cobwebs away here before a return to the Royal Meeting.
Vale Of Kent should ensure this is a strong test, but he’s proven best over 7-furlongs so far. Century Dream won the 2018 renewal but prefers a bit of cut, while Bless Him and Escobar have shown their best form at Ascot.
Money for either of the unbeaten pair of Dawaam or Lord Tennyson would be interesting, but this is a far cry from winning novice races on the all-weather.

Momkin looks the each-way play against the favourite. He twice finished runner-up over course and distance in Group 3 company last season for Roger Charlton and is sure to have been primed for this contest by new trainer William Haggas, who had two winners on Thursday.

Hurworth Bloodstock Coronation Cup (Newmarket 3.35) Analysis
15:35 at Newmarket Racecourse on 4th June
The Group 1 Coronation Cup is normally run at Epsom, so statistics could go out of the window as it takes place at Newmarket post-lockdown. But the race has still attracted an interesting field of 7 runners.
Last year’s Derby winner Anthony Van Dyck could make a better 4-year-old, but the form of last year’s Derby failed to impress. However, Ryan Moore rides him in preference to Broome who also placed in the 2019 Derby. Alounak finished behind a few of his rivals last year but it will be interesting to see if he’s backed ahead of his debut for in-form trainer Andrew Balding.
Desert Encounter is admirable, but he normally comes good later in the year, while champion stayer Stradivarius will surely find something to beat him at this trip. Defoe won last year’s contest at Epsom but might prefer the ground a bit softer.

Ghaiyyath is clear on ratings and, while he normally impresses when hammering inferior rivals, most of his disappointing run have come on soft ground. A winner twice at Newmarket, he’s fancied to show his class.
