With such a weird season in the NBA, it is hard to keep track of all of the late scratches and DNP’s that happen league-wide.
For an east-west matchup, we have the Los Angeles Clippers taking on the Atlanta Hawks in a matchup where stars are going to be missing.
Kawhi Leonard and Paul George already have been ruled out for this contest, so the Clippers are going to be looking elsewhere for significant scoring contributions.
The Hawks will also be without a couple of players, but that is why we are here to help you break down the matchup and determine where your money should go.
Los Angeles Clippers Betting Preview: Where to Get Points
Missing your two biggest stars would be a problem for any team, but this duo for the Clippers is averaging 50 points per game combined.
It will be tough for Ty Lue to find replacement scoring for that much offense, and they are going to look to players like Reggie Jackson, Lou Williams (returning from injury) and Serge Ibaka.
Ibaka would be the player to keep an eye on for me. He is only averaging a measly 12 and 6 on the season, but that is in about 25 minutes per game.
An uptick in minutes will be necessary for their next couple of games and with that those numbers could jump significantly to averaging a double-double.
Despite what happened last year, the Clippers have looked good so far and seem to enjoy playing with one another. It’s unfortunate they had to get hit with health and safety protocols for their two best players.
The whole league seems to be dealing with it, so at least they are not alone.
Atlanta Hawks Betting Preview: No Longer the Trae Young Show?
Atlanta was a hot topic coming into this season with the addition of some weapons around Trae Young.
So far, they have underperformed, and there are not a lot of answers out there for Hawks fans.
Young has statistically regressed, and it is evident that some players are frustrated with the offense being so catered to him.
One player who has stood out is Clint Capela, who has turned it up to a new level.
He recently triple doubled with points, rebounds and blocks, and also put up a 20-20 game.
He makes the team better on both ends of the floor and elevates everyone’s game.
Danillo Gallinari made his return scoring 17 points in 19 minutes, but he is now questionable with a sprained ankle.
Clippers @ Hawks Betting Odds and Lines
Coming into this game, JazzSports has the Atlanta Hawks favored at home by 3.5 points.
Due to the Clippers missing their best two players, there was no doubt this line would favor the home team.
Free Betting Pick
I don’t think the Clippers will have enough firepower to compete. Atlanta has not been great, but they should be able to do enough to take care of this one.
Take them for a home win.
