Patriots Vs. Broncos Rescheduled Again: COVID-19 Positives On Sunday

  • The Tennessee Titans and New England Patriots each announced a positive COVID-19 test on Sunday, October 11, 2020.
  • The Patriots’ game against the Denver Broncos has been rescheduled to next week.
  • The Titans’ game against the Buffalo Bills is set to happen this Tuesday.

LAS VEGAS – Multiple NFL games will be postponed this week as the NFL has decided to move the matchup between the New England Patriots and the Denver Broncos to next week, per Adam Schefter.

In addition, the matchup next week between the Broncos and the Miami Dolphins is set to be rescheduled.

This comes on the heels of the matchup between the Tennessee Titans and Buffalo Bills being moved to Tuesday. In further COVID related news, both the Titans and the Patriots have announced another positive test.

It seems inadvisable for the NFL to continue forward with the Titans/Bills matchup, but there has been no word yet on whether or not it will be delayed.

The Titans/Bills matchup has already been delayed until Tuesday, but given everything the public knows about COVID-19 and the fact that they announced a positive test on Sunday, it would seem to be a poor idea to go ahead with it on Tuesday.

The Titans temporarily closed their facilities on Sunday, but again, as of now, there is no word from the league on that situation.

Without word from the league, it’s a hard situation to parse, as their COVID-19 response procedures seem to be applied in fairly haphazard ways.

As an example, the Patriots flew to their game last week on two separate planes – one for those who had been potentially exposed to COVID, and one for those who had not.

Then, they had all of those players play in a football game together. Not an ideal response.

To be blunt, the reason this is hard to parse is that the NFL has been going all out to make sure that games happen.

Jason McCourty of the New England Patriots has already questioned whether or not the NFL has the best interests of the players in mind health wise.

McCourty went on to describe the way the NFL was going about this process:

“For them, it is not about our best interest, or our health and safety, it is about, ‘What can we make protocol-wise that sounds good, looks good, and how can we go out there and play games?”

Taking this mindset, it is genuinely hard to know if the Titans game will be rescheduled to next week as well.

The fact that they didn’t move it to next week in the first place is, perhaps, indicative of what McCourty is saying – they wanted the games to happen as close to schedule as possible, COVID outbreak or not.

Then again, the Patriots game being rescheduled might be indicative of a change in policy from the NFL head office.

Only time will tell.

So, for fantasy players – make sure your Patriots and Broncos players are on the bench this week, and keep an eye on those Titans and Bills players as well.

For those betting on the NFL this season, let this be the warning to keep an eye on the COVID status of teams before wagering on them.

This season is going to be confusing, so make sure to stay up to date on all the news here at LegalSportsBetting.
