Sportsbetting Launches in Tennessee

November 1st marked a big day for gamblers in the Volunteer State, with sportsbetting beginning operation, with FanDuel, BetMGM, DraftKings, and Action247 taking wagers in for events.

The activity will let punters aged 21 or older within the state of Tennessee to get in on the action, placing wagers using online tools like smartphones or computers to get wagers in on. Launching on a Sunday, there were numerous offers for the different books, with media personalities offering promotions on NFL games.

Commenting on the launch Tennessee Lottery CEO Rebecca Hargrove said, “This Sunday will represent the culmination of an enormous amount of work and due diligence to bring online-only sports wagering to Tennessee, the only state in the nation to do so. As the regulator, today also represents the beginning of a new stage as we establish and support a responsible and competitive program here.

“We will continue to work with all licensees, registrants and applicants to protect the consumer, promote fairness in sports and regulate this new Tennessee industry that provides critical funds to the state and local governments.”
