888poker XL Winter #10 – $50,000 Tune Up

Buy-in Date Players Prize pool
$55 Dec. 13 1,085 $54,250

The 888poker XL Winter #10 – $50,000 Tune Up Event was the biggest of the four events on the XL Winter schedule on Sunday and didn’t disappoint with 1,085 entrants generating a $54,250 prize pool to smash the $50,000 guarantee.

After more than 10 hours of play, “pereleman” shipped the event for $9,819

The Belarus native started the final table that featured the likes of Charlie “chazcombes” Combes and Adam “IT5PAYDAY” Neal in the middle of the pack, tumbling down to the bottom on a couple of occasions en route to victory.

A steady grind for “pereleman” paid off during five-handed play when they went from rags to riches with big slick versus the ace-queen of “iaric_”. The view on top must have been beautiful because that is where the Belarusian stayed until ultimately claiming all of the chips in play.

Action of the Day

The action built throughout the day with the field eventually growing to 1,085 entrants by the time late registration closed with the top 108 players guaranteed at least a min-cash of $694.

The field was trimmed down to a final table of nine players during Level 36 with “FlushJeZus” kicking off the action as the table captain.

Russia’s “x90x60x90x” was the first to take an exit when their turned top two pair ran into the flopped set of “CaioCapT”, sending the Russian out as the first casualty at the final table. Adam “IT5PAYDAY” Neal wasn’t too far behind exiting in eighth place after losing a flip with big slick against the pocket sevens held by “iaric_”.

“CaioCapT” saw their chips whittle away quickly, putting their short stack into the middle shortly after with king-nine. Both “Thundy100” and Charlie “chazcombes” Combes called from the blinds to see a queen-high flop that Combes led out on and “Thundy100” folded. Combes tabled a middle pair of fours, which was good enough to win the pot and send his opponent to the rail.

Combes saw his time in the sun vanish quickly. A shove from “BellaFicha” who held ace-jack suited was snap-called by Combes who had slightly fewer chips but he was well in front with his pair of jacks. Combes’ opponent hit a flush on the flop and Combes was ousted in sixth place.

“BellaFicha” was the next to go after they got in their short-stack with jack-four in the small blind and couldn’t get there against the king-ten suited held by “Thundy100”.

Shortly after, “iaric_” was eliminated in fourth place after not getting there with nines against the queens held by “pereleman”. “FlushJeZus” then called off their short-stack with king-ten and was eliminated in third place after blanking the board against the ace-seven held by “pereleman”.

“pereleman” began heads-up play with a huge chip lead against “Thundy100” and it didn’t take long for this player to seal the deal. “Thundy100” got their chips in good with king-seven but couldn’t hold against the queen-ten suited after their opponent hit two pair on the flop to end the tournament.
